About Curbside News

Curbside News aggregates headlines from 5,037 newsrooms across all 210 US news markets — from the New York Times to your neighborhood weekly. Updated every 30 minutes.

Why we exist

More than 50 million Americans live in communities with limited or no access to local news. National aggregators cover New York, DC, and LA. We cover Amarillo, Duluth, and Muskogee too.

We believe the city council meeting matters as much as the congressional hearing. Curbside surfaces both — in one clean, fast feed — so you can stay informed about your street and your nation.

How it works

We pull RSS feeds from community newspapers, public radio stations, nonprofit newsrooms, college papers, and national outlets. Our ranking system scores stories by recency, source quality, and geographic relevance — then merges duplicate coverage so you see the story once, not seven times.

Every source is listed on our Sources page — full transparency about where your news comes from.

What makes us different

  • Every market, not just metros. 210 US news markets including rural, tribal, and small-city America.
  • Real newsrooms only. No AI-generated articles. No user-submitted content. Every story comes from a real journalist at a real publication.
  • Coverage merging. When 7 outlets cover the same story, we show you the story once with all 7 sources — not the same headline repeated 7 times.
  • Local exclusives. Our "Only Here" section surfaces stories that only one local newsroom is covering — stories you literally can't find anywhere else.
  • Source transparency. See every source, its type, and what market it serves. No black-box algorithm.

Who built this

Curbside News is an independent project. We're not owned by a media conglomerate, a hedge fund, or an advertising network. We aggregate the news — we don't create it, rewrite it, or monetize your attention with engagement tricks.
